The first basketball hoops were simple peach baskets attached to the railing of a balcony in a Massachusetts gymnasium. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, hung two baskets from the gym's balcony railing, which served as the first basketball hoops. The peach baskets were used without a bottom and the ball had to be manually retrieved after each successful shot. Keywords: Basketball Hoops, James Naismith, Peach Baskets, Balcony Railing.
