Building a Gift

There was this family in our neighborhood. They didn’t have much. The father died, leaving behind his young wife and their three children; 8, 2 and 1. They didn’t have much at all. Their clothes were secondhand. They hardly ever had new toys.

Last Christmas we decided to fix up her house. It was in pretty bad shape and it needed quite a bit of work. As the job progressed, the local high school basketball team decided they wanted to step in and help. We had paved the driveway so they decided to put in a basketball hoop for the kids.

When we were finished they had one of the nicest homes on the block. My favorite part was watching the eight year old boy’s reaction to the basketball hoop. He said he asked his mom to put one on his Christmas list, but she had said Santa was not sure he could bring one this year. His face was pure joy. And I swear, he’s out there shooting baskets every time I drive by.


The Legend Dynasty ha s 6” post with an extension arm. It has a 42” x 72” fiberglass backboard with an unbreakable fixed goal. There is also the Legend Dynasty Dual system that is the same as the Legend Dynasty, but offers an additional support arm, backboard and rim on the opposite side of the unit.
